Holy say it ain’t so Batman! RIP Adam West. The Batman of my youth has passed away.
The first mainstream media columnist I’ve seen finally said it. Here’s a tip of the hat to Kimberley Strassel of the Wall Street Journal. No other story or opinion piece that I’ve seen in a main stream news outlet is reporting this little bombshell from Comey’s testimony yesterday.
Mr. Comey explained that he had lost faith in then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s ability to handle the affair, in part because she had directed him to describe the probe in public as a “matter” rather than an “investigation.” That one of President Obama’s political appointees outright directed the head of the FBI to play down an investigation is far more scandalous than any accusation aired about Mr. Trump. Mr. Comey said it gave him a “queasy” feeling. But did he call on Ms. Lynch to recuse herself? Did he demand a special counsel? No. Mr. Comey instead complied with the request. Then he judged that the only proper way to clean up the mess was to flout all the normal FBI protocols. Vive la resistance.
There are few events in your life that change you in any profound manner and for me one of those was having my first child. You leave for the hospital one person and hours later (or in Melissa’s case 10 minutes after hitting the emergency room) you become someone totally different. Suddenly someone else’s life is in your hands and it’s of your own doing. You are now responsible for everything that happens to that person for at least the next 18 years.
Daughters are a different animal than sons. I don’t care what anyone says. Raising daughters is a conundrum. There are inherent differences between girls and boys and men and women and those differences need to be acknowledged. But, acknowledging them doesn’t mean you have to be limited by them. You can be tough, opinionated, straightforward, accept no bullshit, and still keep your femininity. After all, there’s nothing wrong with being female.
In many ways Jenny raised me as much as I helped to raise her and I can honestly say that she is one of the most perfect things I have ever had a hand in creating. I feel she is the embodiment of what modern women should aspire to be. I’m proud to be her dad.
Happy 30th JennyB!
Here’s a video I created years ago when Jenny graduated high school and was going off to college. Enjoy!
In just 4 short months since being inaugurated President Trump has said and done things that have had one overriding effect and that is to shift the focus of the entire world onto Trump. It seems to me that this is what he wants and what he enjoys. This is like feeding warm humid air to a hurricane. He seems to get energized by it. Just when you think the storm is going from a category 4 to a category 3 someone screams “Russia!” and boom the storm gets stronger and starts heading towards Washington D.C. Will Hurricane Trump get to a category 5 and will it decimate Washington?
It’s far too early to tell whether or not this is something that’s going to be good for the country. But what has been exposed in a short period of time is the soft corruption at almost every level of our federal government as well as a complicit media. Both the Democrats and Republicans are doing their showboating on their respective committees. Bringing in witnesses while spewing tons of Earth killing CO2 (if you believe in that sort of thing) in their opening statements all the while doing nothing to forward the legislation they all claim to be so necessary to put the country back on the right track. The career government employees are doing their best to leak everything and anything with no thought to the fallout. The news media, both liberal and conservative leaning, don’t seem to be interested in bringing government corruption to light. They only seem to be willing to push forward their own ideology at the expense of the public. The Russia/Trump collusion boondoggle might gain them short term ratings and advertising but it will come at the expense of further distrust of their reporting by the general public.
I stand by my earlier prediction that if these three groups, the Republicans, Democrats, and the media can’t take President Trump down by the end of this year they would have spent all their ammunition and Trump will not only get re-elected but the mid-term elections will also go Trump’s way. Hurricane Trump is a force of nature and you can look at the result one of two ways. It hits land and destroys everything in its path or it comes in and washes away everything man-made that can’t take the pressure. Either way you have to batten down the hatches!
It’s days like today that make me wish I named one of my kids Sam Francisco. A girl could have been Samantha a boy could have been Samuel both would have been comedy gold for me.
In the case of Reality Leigh Winner, a government contractor accused of sending a top-secret document to a news outlet, federal authorities brought charges less than a week after being tipped off.
Winner, 25, was charged Monday with gathering, transmitting or losing defense information, as The Washington Post reported. Court documents did not identify the document that was leaked or the news outlet that received it, but the criminal complaint against Winner was unveiled shortly after the national security site the Intercept published a story containing an NSA report on Russian efforts to interfere with the 2016 election.
The Inconvenient Truth About the Democratic Party. Here is some history that is left out of your education.
Today the outside temperature hit more than 90 degrees and the dew point hit over 60 degrees. We decided to leave the A/C off since tomorrow the temp will be more reasonable. It was hot, humid, and I could not do a damn thing. Give me any season but summer and I’m happy.
Benjamin Booker, looking like a young Barack Obama in this video, performs the title track of his new album. It’s a good album with much better production than his debut. Give it a listen!
During the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and beyond all the money was behind research into the harms of saturated fats and the benefits of transfats.
Professor Kummerow said that in the 1960s and ’70s the processed food industry, enjoying a cozy relationship with scientists, played a large role in keeping trans fats in people’s diets.
“Other scientists were more interested in what the industry was thinking than what I was thinking,” he said. He was often heckled by industry representatives when he presented his research at scientific conferences, he said.
The scientific “consensus” of the time was that saturated fat was the cause of clogged arteries that lead to heart disease and the death of thousands of people every year. Kummerow was a single voice that denied that “consensus” and was eventually proven correct, although it took another 50 years to get anyone to listen.
Finally, in 2015 — 58 years after Professor Kummerow published his findings — the F.D.A. ruled that trans fats were not considered safe and could no longer be added to food after June 18, 2018, unless a manufacturer could present convincing scientific evidence that a particular use was safe.
Dr. Willett estimated that the elimination of industrial trans fats will prevent 90,000 premature deaths a year.
Does any of this sound vaguely familiar? Could it be that the scientific “consensus” around the nebulous term “climate change” is wrong and that the scientists now labeled as “deniers” are correct? Could it be that the “clean energy” industry and regulatory happy governments have a cozy relationship with climate scientists resulting in a steady money flow to further a disaster agenda? Unless we listen to scientists that have opposing views on the matter we will never know.
