Majority of Teamster members select Trump so union refuses to endorse anyone

This is hilarious. In order to save democracy the Teamsters Union ignores democracy. The Teamsters Union polled their members to see who the union would endorse for President of the United States. Here’s what happened.

In data publicly released earlier in the day, President Joe Biden won the support of Teamsters voting in straw polls at local unions between April-July prior to his exit from the race. But in independent electronic and phone polling from July-September, a majority of voting members twice selected Trump for a possible Teamsters endorsement over Harris.

The union’s extensive member polling showed no majority support for Vice President Harris and no universal support among the membership for President Trump.

From a story in Politico:

Earlier in the day, the union released internal survey results that showed close to 60 percent of its members backed former President Donald Trump. O’Brien told POLITICO that about 40,000 members participated in the online survey that was sent out to members on the back of a magazine mailer.

The lack of an endorsement comes despite comments Trump made last month speaking approvingly of employers who fire workers who go on strike, which drew sharp criticism from O’Brien. It will also step on Harris’ claim to be the inheritor of Biden’s strongly pro-union legacy.
