Democrats should be loving Trump and Republicans should be ashamed

Democrats loathe Trump, but the shouldn’t because his policies are pure old-school Democrat. He’s more Bill Clinton than Ronald Reagan. Meanwhile, Republicans backing all these big government policies should be ashamed of themselves. They so easily betray their principles (It’s clear they never had them) to play to a base that is also clearly not Republican or conservative.

Tariffs? It doesn’t get more Democrat than that. Trump’s 10% across-the-board tariffs aimed at supposedly protecting American jobs from foreign competition plays right into big labor’s hands. This keeps wages artificially high and will result in increased prices to consumers. He announced tariffs on China at 145%, causing everyone’s hair to explode in flames only to pull them back to 30% as he probably always intended. He made you all think that 30% is reasonable. That’s the mark of a great salesman. Tariffs are 1960s Democrat gospel. Republicans cheer on this big-government bullshit. Regan and Milton Friedman are spinning in their graves.

Trump is a deficit spender and all for big government. His budgets back in his first term resulted in the creation of trillions of new dollars and this term is no different. Sure, Obama and Biden did the same but Trump is supposed to be a fiscally responsible Republican. No cuts to Social Security or Medicare even though both programs are bankrupt pyramid schemes. He’s proposed price controls on pharmaceuticals which sounds like it comes right out of Elizabeth Warren’s mouth. Meanwhile, modern Republicans are all on board with policies that waste and devalue your money.

Trump is anti-war. He’s been trying to get a cease fire and peace talks going with Ukraine/Russia and Israel/Gaza from before he was re-elected. Why do modern Democrats want these things to continue? They want Ukraine and the Palestinians to continue to fight losing causes. Republicans though remain true to form in never meeting a war they didn’t like.

Okay, illegal alien loving Democrats do have some things to hate. Trump is clearly overstepping his authority with his deportation policies. Sidestepping due process, fast-tracking deportations without hearings, and is even floating suspending habeas corpus (that’s the right to be heard before a court to challenge your detainment). The argument of “they got in with no due process so they can be kicked out without due process” is a load of bullshit. If the government picks someone up off the street and claims they are illegally in the country how does they government know they have the right person without due process? The burden is on the government to prove that someone is in the country illegally not the individual. Republicans who claim to love liberty speak volumes with their silence on this and that’s shameful.

Where do I agree with Trump’s policies? So far, closing the border, enforcing immigration law (when done properly), staying out of wars, reducing the size of government (eliminating USAID and pushing to remove the Department of Education among others), and keeping taxes low. That’s about it. I disagree with a lot of what Trump does and how he does it but I’m still getting more for my vote than I would have with Kamala Harris.
