At the top of my list of possibilities for the 2024 Republican nomination for President of the United States are both Ron DeSantis and Kristi Noem. Both are governors of states that used common sense when it came to COVID-19. Governor Noem exercised a little more probably because it was easier for her state given the smaller population and demographics. DeSantis wisely opened up Florida in September of 2020 and didn’t look back. Neither state has death or infection rates near the states that issued strict lockdowns and mask mandates. Proof positive that all the “mitigation” measures where all about the theater of health.
I include Ted Cruz as a possibility. Although I’ve always found him a little weaselly. He’s smart and can think on his feet. I think running against Trump during the primaries taught him a lot about how far he can actually go and keep the Republican base.
