Joy Crookes: If Erykah Badu & Amy Winehouse merged their sounds

I was going to make the headline, “Joy Crookes: If Erykah Badu & Amy Winehouse had a baby”, but these days you never know who you might upset. So it’s the first sentence of the post instead of a headline. Why would people be upset? Why not! Everyone is upset over everything these days. But… I digress.

I stumbled (which is how I find new music these days) upon a few tracks by Joy Crookes several weeks ago and added them to my 2025 playlist. Then I found out last week she released an album. I’m always looking for new artists and people who have a unique sound. Joy Crookes fits that bill.

You might not hear what I hear but I think her voice is Badu-esque and the style of music is Winshouse-ish. Have a listen!
