Well… at least someone is coming into the state. How gruesome is it that Illinois is home to abortion tourism? It’s also on the rise. Everyone is concerned about saving the elderly from COVID-19 but no one is concerned about the number of abortions performed in the United States every single year. We talk a big game about China and their former one-child-per-family policy that caused millions (perhaps a billion?) to die but are somehow so tolerant that we terminate so many pregnancies.
More than 46,500 pregnancies were terminated in Illinois in 2019 compared with about 42,400 in 2018, according to state health department figures. While the majority of these women resided in Illinois, more than 7,500 women came from other states to have an abortion in Illinois in 2019, about 16% of all terminated pregnancies that year. This was roughly 2,000 more out-of-state women compared with 2018, when they comprised about 13% of all abortions statewide.

I’m not anti-abortion. I’m not omniscient. I would like Congress to legislate it though so we can come to as close to a consensus on the criteria we can agree on as a country as to when life begins and when we will allow a pregnancy to be terminated. We legislate everything else.
