The truth comes out on why those “Russian” Facebook and Twitter ads were made such a big deal.

The truth comes out on why those “Russian” Facebook and Twitter ads were made such a big deal. It’s not because anyone legitimately thought those ads had any effect on the election but because Congress wanted to use it as a back door to regulate the Internet.

Getting the FEC involved in my mind is the first step in what will eventually turn into licensing of web sites. Regulate advertising first, then regulate who is allowed to have their own web sites, that in turn will be de facto regulation of speech on the Internet with license fees going to the U.S. Treasury.

We don’t need this kind of protection. Are Americans really this dumb?
